Blast-Off!

The game of modern space exploration and technology

Box cover

Publisher's Description:

The conquest of space is one of the most exciting adventures upon which mankind has ever embarked. It requires not only enormous initial power, but also incredibly exact guidance controls to ensure successful navigation. Blast-Off! Provides a game in which players must be constantly making decisions as they try to keep their spacecraft in satisfactory orbits, achieve capsule-to-satellite docking, make frequent moon landings and so reach the other planets of our solar system.

Trev says:

I recently picked this game intact at a car boot sale and was attracted by its age and apparent history. It also contains some marvellous 'control panels' with moving dials as shown on the left. With 1969 stamped on the box, the game was obviously released to coincide with the space fever generated by the moon landings. This was perhaps, though, at the expense of creating an addictive game. I have played it a couple of times with the boys and it does seem a little long winded. We had to abandon both games before visiting all the planets, due to time constraints. I think we may have got a little bored with it, though, if we had continued to the bitter end. Perhaps someone with more experience of it can let me know if this is true.
