Bohnanza

Ich glaub' es hackt!

Bohnanza box cover

Publisher's Description:

Each player trades with beans which he has grown in his fields and then sells them as profitably as possible. The more beans of the same variety the player has in his field, the greater the profit accrued by selling. Unfortunately a player is often forced to sell his beans much too early at a bargain basement price, and sometimes there is nothing at all to harvest. The aim of the game is to earn the greatest amount through bean trading.

Trev says:

An excellent card trading game. The cards are a pleasure to play with and the rules, though simple, are well designed with enough room to allow you to plan the trades you need in advance without committing yourself to a non-winner. Once the players are familiar with it, the game is fast paced and fun. A candidate for the 1997 Spiel des Jahres, which must be rather rare for a card game (I haven't checked). By the way, "Ich glaub' es hackt" was kindly translated for mefor me by Stefanie at Luding. Apparently it is a colloquial term indicating an unpleasant surprise, I guess with a bit of a pun on digging. I suppose all you could come up with in English would be something like "Damn it!".
