Trev says:

This is one of a classic set of 'bookshelf' games from 3M in the 70's.   It's a kind of cross between Connect-four and Mancala.  To be honest,  I picked it up because of the attractive pieces (which are somewhat nicer than they seem in the picture), figuring that even if I don't like the game, I can use the pieces in other games. It's a very abstract game and doesn't particularly appeal to me or Sally and is not the kind of thing they go for at the games club.  I'm sure it is a lot more appealing if you are the type who likes to play the kind of games where you think a number of moves ahead.  I reckon the box's claim to chess-like strategy is a bit much, though, as your opponent has too much control of the stones you need to control your moves.
